Il sera intéressant de voir si Djokovic choisit de réduire un peu l’agressivité dans ce match et d’opter davantage pour un style de contre-attaque très verrouillé qui pourrait amener le Belge à se faire sortir du match tout seul. Cela aurait du sens, puisque Bergs ne rechigne pas face à la cadence et au rythme qu’il obtiendrait d’un Djokovic repartant à fond sur son coup droit. En revanche, quand Bergs doit frapper des coups supplémentaires, il peut devenir assez irrégulier, surtout dans un moment aussi important. Même si Bergs affiche un bilan de 2-14 contre des joueurs du top 20, il parvient souvent à rendre les matches au moins un peu compétitifs. Je l’ai déjà mentionné dans un autre aperçu, mais regardez ses adversaires depuis l’US Open : Thompson, ADM, Shang, Tabilo, Alcaraz, Korda, Ruud, Cerúndolo, Diallo. Il n’a pas eu un seul match facile ! Ce qui m’inquiète un peu pour Djokovic, c’est qu’il a déjà joué trois matches ici… contre Cilic, Hanfmann et Munar — et les trois ont été éprouvants ! Dans ces conditions difficiles, il devient compliqué pour Djokovic de dominer ; il ne peut pas jouer chaque jeu de retour à 100 %, il choisit plutôt ses moments pour tout donner et d’autres où il va au contraire lâcher certains points afin d’économiser de l’énergie…

It's going to be interesting to see if Djokovic chooses to lessen the aggression a bit in this match and go more for a lockdown counter-punching style that could let the Belgian hit himself out of the match. This would make sense, since Bergs doesn't mind the pace and rhythm he would get from a Djokovic going all-out on his forehand again. Instead, when Bergs has to hit extra shots, he can become quite erratic, especially in such a big moment like this. While Bergs has a 2-14 record against top 20 players, he tends to make them at least somewhat competitive. I mentioned it earlier in another preview, but have a look at his opponents since the USO: Thompson, ADM, Shang, Tabilo, Alcaraz, Korda, Ruud, Cerundolo, Diallo. He has not had a single easy match! What worries me slightly for Djokovic is the fact that he has now played three matches here... against Cilic, Hanfmann, and Munar - and all three of them have been challenging! In these tough conditions, it becomes hard for Djokovic to dominate; he is unable to play every return game to 100%, instead selecting moments where he has to give it his all and other moments when he instead will concede/bail out on points, so he can preserve some energy...
